Behind the scenes with legends Alex Honnold & Jim Morrison on JUMP Podcast

Yes - you read that right - Alex Honnold & Jim Morrison are my guests on the podcast this week. (First - can I get a cheers to that?!) 🤩

Alex Honnold is the professional rock climber we know from his unprecedented free solo (without ropes) ascents of El Capitan in Yosemite (as shown in the Netflix documentary Free Solo) and of the Taipei 101 skyscraper (which was covered live on Netflix).

Jim Morrison is the first person to ever ski down the north face of Mount Everest through the Hornbein Couloir, which he accomplished in October of 2025. Jimmy Chin is still working on that documentary, which is coming out later this year.

BOTH of them. On MY Podcast! 🤯💪

I had the immense honor of conducting this interview with them live from the stage at the TGA Show (Travel, Gear & Adventure) in Salt Lake City this June. And yes, I was nervous!! But "JUMP" is all about harnessing our courage, taking that leap, and doing big things with our lives, even if they seem scary.

That will always and forever start with me as the founder and host of this show.

Behind the scenes: So, I harnessed that courage and introduced myself to these men. Get this - I actually had to steal them away from an off-stage conversation they were having with their friend and fellow conference speaker Jimmy Chin so we could keep to our schedule (You know Jimmy too, right?! The Academy Award-winning filmmaker...).

It took gumption to insert myself into that trio. But I did it, and that's how I got to meet Jimmy Chin, Alex Honnold, and Jim Morrison all at once. We parted ways with Jimmy, mic'd up, walked on stage... and began.

It turned out that I didn't even need my notes. They were both so incredibly kind and easy to talk to. We had a great convo about taking risks big and small, breaking down fears (think: helpful vs unhelpful), focusing our efforts on the things meant for us in this life, and connecting over a special place that, coincidentally, all three of us call home.

Catch these shorter clips:

And finally - please let me know what you think!! I would love to hear from you - you can leave a comment on the episode (YouTube, Spotify, etc.), reply to this email, or come find me @travelingjackie on Instagram.

To taking risks, being safe, harnessing that courage and living life to the fullest! 🍻

I just returned from a girls' trip to Georgia (the country!), and you can hear all about it now on the podcast. Why Georgia?! Scroll down... Fun fact: In that last photo, our wine tasting table (carved from a tree) is older than the USA. 😳 Georgia is ancient... Why Georgia? I invite my friend (and returning podcast guest!) Ginger Cooper to help answer that question by sharing two very different adventures through this mountainous, wonderfully under-the-radar country. Ginger recounts a...

I have spent the last 24 years living in and traveling to more than 60 countries. I love slow travel, spending time immersing myself deeply into places, and I love going back to places that feel like home to me (i.e. I have been to Chile more than 10 times in 10 years). Someone recently asked me, “What is your dream adventure?”… as in, where do I really want to go, anywhere in the world?… After considering this for about a minute, I knew my answer, and it didn’t surprise me: “I want to drive...

Hello and happy May from Montana! (Scroll for a photo of me in my new HOUSE!) I'm here with two resources for you today: There is a happy coincidence in the last two podcast episodes we've published (aside from my opinion that they are both super inspirational...) - both are centered around community AND getting your body moving in the outdoors, IRL. What's not to love?! 52 Hike Challenge - Meet Karla, Founder of 52 Hike Challenge - summarizing this one with this - if you need motivation,...
